Pride and Prejudice trailer: Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden lead Netflix's faithful take
The full trailer for the six-part series is out ahead of its 3 December debut. Bloom Entertainment rates it 3.5 out of 5.

Netflix has released the full trailer for its new Pride and Prejudice, a six-part limited series that arrives on the streamer on 3 December.
Emma Corrin plays Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden plays Mr Darcy. The series is written by Dolly Alderton, author of Everything I Know About Love, and directed by Euros Lyn, who directed Heartstopper. Olivia Colman plays Mrs Bennet and Rufus Sewell plays Mr Bennet, with Freya Mavor as Jane, Louis Partridge as Wickham, Jamie Demetriou as Mr Collins and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Corrin is also an executive producer, alongside Alderton and Lyn, for Lookout Point.
The trailer opens on the novel’s first line, “It is a truth universally acknowledged”, and Variety and The Scotsman both describe the series as a faithful adaptation of Austen’s 1813 novel.
Our take: 3.5 out of 5
This is Bloom Entertainment’s opinion of the trailer, not a review of the series.
The cast is the draw. Corrin and Lowden have the right friction, and Colman’s Mrs Bennet looks set to steal scenes. The tone is warm, the countryside is lush, and the dialogue stays close to the page, which will please readers of the book.
What the trailer does not do is make a case for why this version is needed. It looks a lot like the adaptations audiences already know, and it gives little away about what Alderton’s longer, six-hour format adds. That may come in the episodes. On the strength of the trailer alone, it is a confident, handsome and familiar piece of work.
